Spirit Communication

It needs to be said from the outset that regardless of your belief system, spirit beings do exist and encompass all levels of Good and Evil.

Similarly in the physical realm, you need a certain amount of "street awareness" in order to avoid potentially dangerous situations. As in the physical, in some circumstances, the danger can vary from easily handled problems to life threatening events. The opposite is the same. You can have amazing luck or good fortune that comes from good events in your life.

The spirit realm in this sense can be compared with amazing similarities, and, as with the physical realm, it requires a certain degree of street awareness.

You would never consider walking unprotected down a dark alley at night in an area renowned for violent crime. You may be less reserved if you were adept at one of the martial arts, or were armed in some way. You would be even less reserved if we added strong lighting to the alley, and then on top of that we added policemen or security guards. Then, finally, you would feel even more relaxed and safe if the alley had a reputation of being a safe place to be regardless of the time of day or night.

If you now relate the spirit realm to the scenario that I have just described, you can appreciate why protection is not only important, but just plain common sense. There are certain things that we can all do that not only increase the degree of safety in which we explore the spirit realm, but also some abilities that give a degree of self defense that varies on the amount of quality time we put into the development of these skills.

The other really important factor to point out here is that as in the physical realm, the safety measures and self defense skills are best learnt from someone who is well experienced in these areas. You can accumulate this knowledge on your own, but you run the risk of harming yourself as you discover the areas that are less than safe, and, as in the dark alley scenario, you also expose yourself and those around you to the very high possibility of physical harm.

There are some that consider simplistic meditational techniques and a few hours of training over a short period sufficient experience for independent spirit communication. Although it is possible to achieve this without years of training you risk problems and danger to yourself and those around you.

You would never consider performing surgery until you had done years of study, developed the right skills in their appropriate order and been tested.

So it follows with spiritual communication. As your level of experience grows, so does your true understanding.

In many ways developing the skills of spirit communication can be likened to an apprenticeship.

You will go through lessons and develop skills. In time you will build on these and enhance them with further skills. You will practice and use these abilities and when you are considered ready, you will find yourself in a situation that will test the effectiveness of your ability to learn the preceding lessons. You will know as will your teacher when the time is right to work independently.

The beauty of the spiritual realm is that if you fail to learn a particular lesson, it will be repeated until you have completed its learning for you. There is no such thing as never learning a lesson or never growing in spiritual knowledge. You may repeat some lessons several times before you get through them. This just makes you human. There is no shame in not doing it in a set number of tries. Some take more than one lifetime to complete just one lesson. Remember, it is not a race, it is a striving towards ultimate perfection in attaining all lessons.
